There is a new World Missions organization of which I'm the VP of that was birthed called Touch International. Touch International is seeking to mobilize churches for World Missions, especially churches that are predominantly African-American. I am trying to get the word out to as many World Missions minded groups as I can. To date (the organization was incorporated in April of this year)there are over half a dozen pastors involved with the number growing monthly! We are seeking an office location in the Raleigh, NC area and hope to have one before the year is out. Our website should be up and running in the not too distant future. I truly believe we are right in the middle of the will of God with this organization. So many organizations are seeking to mobilize African-American churches for World Missions (9.9 times out of 10 caucasian)but to no avail. It is time for Christians of African- American descent to take on our portion of the global responsibility! It is really a shame that LESS than 1% of the missionary force world wide is made up of African-American missionaries! We have really been slack in this area, but Touch International is seeking to change this. Please pray for us. I will keep you abreast of what is happening with us. We do have a short term missions trip planned for October to Togo. The purpose for our mission trips are to expose pastors to what is happening in other parts of the world and to hopefully, prayerfully see a vision for World Missions birthed in their hearts. We also would like to plant disciple-making, world missions minded, reproducing churches in Africa, Asia and Europe as well as equipping and training the indigenous Christian leadership! We also would like to participate in relieving the suffering in the nations we go to even as Jesus relieved suffering in His earthly ministry. Touch International's vision is to be a World Missions networking/mobilizing/training center that plants world missions minded, discipling, reproducing churches throughout Africa, Asia, the 10/40 window and the world! The key thing to keep in mind is that our main ( by all means NOT our ONLY target group) target group is African-American pastors, churches and Christian leaders. Please let anyone you know who you think may be interested in networking with us and/or supporting such an endeavor. As I said I know many other groups have been trying to accomplish such a task but to no avail, I really sense that Touch is on to something big!! Even the USCWM is looking for someone to head up their efforts to mobilize African- American churches for World Missions, to date they have NOT found anyone yet! Being AA myself I know very well that it is DIFFICULT to get many AA pastors to see the GLOBAL aspect of the Great Commission. Everyone we have told about Touch has been very positive about what we are attempting to do. From now to the end of the year we have several regional meetings (to introduce Touch International to local pastors)1 missions trip in October and a World Missions conference scheduled for the end of August. We need as many people as possible to know of our existence and what we are trying to do!
